Amazing Cinematography in a Stupid Video

Hey guys,

I saw this video a long time ago and I recently watched it again after I did a spoof of it for the Spirit ASB elections.

For such a silly video that has absolutely no profound meaning in it whatsoever,
Julian Smith did an AMAZING job with the cinematography in the video.

He included a variety of Shot Types, and angles, lighting,  and Focus Changes.

It really made you feel for the corn cob.

Now I am not an emotional guy what so ever. But this video made me tear up while watching a video about a corn cob dying!

THAT IS THE POWER OF CINEMATOGRAPHY!!!

I wish there were more videos like this rather than most of the trash that is on YouTube nowadays.

How Not to Make a Music Video

Hey Class!

Well in the Spirit of completing the Spirit Music Video (no pun intended),
I have decided to make today's blog post on how NOT to make a music video.

Just recently The Ark Music Factory released yet another horrible music video.
And yes this girl has already been called the next Rebecca Black.

I am going to show you the music video and below that you can watch the Kids Reaction Video made by the FineBros.

I will leave my comments below the FineBros video.

I have finally figured out the Ark Music Factory's strategy for making money. They are purposely righting bad songs that will get a lot of hate. Nowadays, it seems haters bring more publicity than fans. Bad songs will have spoofs of it posted on YouTube and that is free advertisement for the original video. The more views they get, the more YouTube will pay them. 

When Friday was released, I bought the song on iTunes (have no clue why.) But that is what is happening world-wide to these songs. The Ark Music Factory is making millions!  

Also these girls that are signing up are victims. They think that this will boost their career early when really, all it will do is tear it down before it even starts. Sure it will get them a ton of money. But the truth is that after these videos are released they will not get hired by any other company. Yet The Ark Music Factory will just prey on another aspiring child artist. 

One by one these children are falling into the lethal trap of the Ark Music Factory.

“Student 1”

(freaking out, shaking)

main characters (Goes to window, opens, jumps back because zombie is there hitting the window)

Whole room, filming shock of students Music plays CUT OUTSIDE, PAN, SHOWS ZOMBIES (INTRO)

CUT, STUDENTS LOOK OUTSIDE THE WINDOW, SHOCK AND FEAR DISPLAYED. STUDETNS OPEN WINDOW, A ZOMBIE NOTICES THE GROUP AND SHAMBLES TO THE WINDOW, PROCEDING TO BANG ON IT; OTHER ZOMBIES JOIN

CUT UPSTAIRS, END OF BROADCAST. 

GROUP 2: STUDENTS LOOK AROUND AT EACHOTHER IN DISBELIEF. “STUDENT 2” NOTICES A CABINET WITH THE SIGN WHICH READS “IN CASE OF ZOMBIES”

“Student 2”

(curiously) Now what do we have here?

“STUDENT 2” OPENS THE CABINET, CAMERA FROM THE INSIDE SHOWS THE STUDENTS REACTIONS

CUT TO GROUP 1: STUDENTS HEAR POUNDING FROM THE DOOR (HALLWAY, WHITEBOARD SIDE). TWO GUYS GO TO THE DOOR TO HOLD IT CLOSED.

CUT TO GROUP 2: QUICK GRAB CUTS GETTING BASEBALL BATS AND OF THE KIND OUT OF THE CABINET. GETTING READY TO GO OUTSIDE.

CUT TO HALLWAY, STUDENTS COME OUT OF ROOM, SEE 3 ZOMBIES, RUN AND KILL SAID ZOMBIES ON THE WAY DOWN THE HALL. STUDENTS GO AROUND THE CORNER TO SEE A PERSON (OR MORE) MANGLED ON THE 2.

GROUND. SOME STEP OVER THE CORPSES, A FEW ARE SHOCKED, ONE TURNES THE OTHER WAY, COVERING HER FACE. ONE STUDENT OPENS THE DOOR

CUT OUTSIDE STAIRCASE GROUP 2: COMING OUT OF THE BUILDING, ASTOUNDED AT THE EXTENT OF THE INFECTION. RUN DOWN STAIRS, ZOMBEIS TAKE NOTICE OF THE GROUP. GROUP 2 TURNS RIGHT TOWARD THE CHAPEL, AVOIDING A GROUP OF ZOMBIES TO THE LEFT. “STUDENT 3” GETS GRABBED AND EATEN. “STUDENT 4” TRIES TO GRAB “STUDENT 3” BUT IS TOO LATE AND HAS TO LEAVE HIM. THE REST RUN TO THE SEE THOUGH DOUBLE DOORS TO THE SANCTUARY AND TRY TO OPEN THEM, BUT THE DOORS ARE LOCKED.

CUT TO GROUP 1: “STUDENT 5 AND 6” ARE STILL HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED, BUT THE ZOMBIES START TO FORCE IT OPEN LITTLE BY LITTLE, “STUDENT 6” IS COMFORTING “STUDENT 7” WHO IS LITERALLY IN SHOCK. “STUDENT 1 AND 8” GO AROUND THE CORNER TO CHECK THINGS OUT AND SEE GROUP 2 TRYING TO GET INSIDE. THEY GO AND OPEN THE DOORS TO LET THE OTHERS IN, CLOSING THE DOOR AND BARACADING 

IT FROM THE ZOMBIES.

CUT TO GROUP 1: THOSE STILL IN THE ROOM HEAR NOISES FROM WHERE “STUDENT 1 AND 8” WENT. STUDENT 8 COMES AROUND THE CORNER AND WAVES FOR THE OTHERS TO COME. EVERYONE EXCEPT “STUDENT 5 AND 6” FOLLOW.

“STUDENT 5 AND 6” ARE STILL HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED COUNT TO 3 (WITH THEIR FINGERS). ON 3 THEY RELEASE THE DOOR AND RUN TO THE CHAPEL. THE OTHERS ARE WAITING FOR THEM IN THE CHAPEL HALLWAY WHEN “STUDENT 5”’S ARM IS GRABBED BY A ZOMBIE. HE TURNS AROUND AND THROWS THE ZOMBIE TO THE SIDE WHEN ANOTHER COMES CLOSER HIM. HE LOOKS AT “STUDENT 6” WHO IS AT THE DOOR AND NODS (SIGNALING HIM TO LEAVE).

“Student 5”

(slightly grunting) Hasta la vista (steps on zombies head), baby

“S

TUDENT 5” THEN STEPS ON THE ZOMBIES HEAD (NOT SHOWN, BUT ACTION IS).

MUSIC STARTS TO BREAK DOWN: HE PUSHES ANOTHER OUT OF THE WAY,TWO MORE GRAB HIM. HE STRUGGLES FOR A FEW SECONDS AND HE DIES.

CUT INSIDE THE CHAPEL, EVERYONE IS CATCHING THEIR BREATH. WEAPONS ARE DISTRIBUTED. SHOTS SHOWING SHOCK TURNING INTO REALIZATION, OTHERS ARE ALREADY ACCEPTING THE FAIT OF THEIR FRIENDS WHO THEY LOST. ONE STUDENT IN THE BACK (NOT BACKGROUND) TAKES OUT THEIR PHONE AND CALLS SOMEONE.

CUT OUTSIDE OF CHAPEL, ZOMBIES WALKING AIMLESSLY AROUND THE YARD. MUSIC PICKS BACK UP: DRAMATICLY THE DOORS (FACING THE YARD) OPEN AND STUDENTS RUN OUT AND START SWINGING AWAY, TAKING OUT ZOMBIES AS THEY MOVE ACROSS THE LAWN.

GROUP MAKES IT TO THE LUNCH TABLES WHEN IN THE DISTANCE A CAR MOVES ACROSS THE SCREEN IN THE BACKGROUND (FOCUSED)

CUT TO AROUND THE CORNER: STUDENTS RUN AROUND THE CORNER AND OUT THE GATE, JUST AS THE TRUCH PULLS UP, THEY ALL JUMP IN THE TRUCK AND DRIVE AWAY. LICEINCE PLATE READS “DOOMSDAY”.

How to Edit With Wondershare

Three Point Lighting

This video is a great tutorial on three-point lighting. Although I already use the three-point lighting method, I did learn about a new angle of lighting I did not know about- the hair light. Before I would use a backlight (a light on the floor just behind my subject) But a hair light is actually more useful than a backlight. Another thing that I was doing wrong was having the key light and fill light the same brightness. For ideal lighting the key light should be brighter than the fill light.

This video was a tremendous help! :)

All Night Long!!!

This video was made by two of my absolute favorite YouTubers Rhett McGlaughlin and Link Neal. They stayed up all night singing Lionel Richie's classic song "All Night Long" for 11 hours straight. I thought that this video utilized a good use of time-lapse. This video obviously required hours and hours of tedious work to stop at just the right moment in the song. Just imagine having to work through 11 HOURS OF FOOTAGE!!! Even more amazing imagine singing the same song 11 hours straight....

NOTE: I actually knew the time and place they were shooting the house party scene. They had invited anyone to come to that. I was planning on being in the shoot, but then I realized that they were not accepting minors :(

Boom Mic Operating Video

Hey guys I thought this video was an interesting instructional video on booming your subject. This video shows how to mount a standard camera shotgun mic onto a boom.
